Ovarian Cycle Expands to Additional Cities
ATLANTA, Georgia, February 1 , 2010 — This Spring marks the seventh Ovarian Cycle Ride to Change the Future™, an annual fitness event whose proceeds fund ovarian cancer research. Ride to Change the Future™ was launched in Atlanta in 2004 in memory of Atlanta native, Debbie Green Flamm. The event continues to expand. Birmingham, Alabama hosted their first Ovarian Cycle Ride to Change the Future™ in 2008. Now, in 2010, Ovarian Cycle’s signature indoor cycling event will expand to include Tallahassee, FL Steamboat Springs and Boulder, CO.
This signature indoor cycling event (6 hours/100 virtual miles), has raised over $645,000 to find a reliable screening test for the early detection and treatment of Ovarian Cancer.
A six week, indoor cycling training program culminates in a virtual 100 mile ride called Ride to Change the Future™. Participants pay a registration fee and secure donations. To date, funds have benefitted The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF), Ovarian Cancer Institute (OCI), and The Norma Livingston Foundation to support research efforts leading to a reliable screening test for ovarian cancer. These funds were generated from the rides that have been held since 2004.
